That would be a reason to keep it open if it were being converted into a daycare to serve people in essential services. But that's not what's happening. It is still serving the same parents as always, very few of them who can't work from home and have jobs that would be considered essential.

There were relatively few people there last week and I am sure this, coupled with the general worsening of the situation, there will be fewer there tomorrow.

Is this in Gaithersburg?

Not PP. My daycare in Gaithersburg is still open, but I keep my child at home. I don't understand why it is still open.

Honestly, what does it matter to you if your child is not currently there? If I needed care, I would be ok with continuing care there. Everyone has already been exposed before the parent tested positive

amazon workers test positive. Fire fighters test positive. Keep your child home if you are able.

They said they spoke to the county health department and were told that the county would investigate (a process they said would take a while) but that they would be allowed to remain open.

I assume they are going to try to do contact tracing, but that's a different issue than opening or not.

CDC is a little busy right now and also doesn’t oversee daycare centers.

My office building didn’t close when a co worker was presumed positive. Or when the next one did either.

Anyway. You don’t have any new info - you have always known that this was out there and near you. You just have a place to put a fear that was once nebulous.

CDC guidelines call for a short-term closure for decontamination, they should be doing that.

Call the CDC or your local health department because the place needs to be shut.

We just received notice that a parent in one of the infant or toddler rooms tested positive for coronavirus. There was no indication if the kid was tested.

They said they plan to stay open, even that classroom. Office buildings have been shutdown when a possible case has been reported. I am surprised that they are allowed to stay open or that they would even if allowed.

The owner sent a strange message almost a week ago that made clear they weren’t sure how they were handling tuition, although they implicitly said at least some staff would be let go because there was a mention of not wanting a gap before unemployment kicked in. I have to wonder if they want to stay open - even though I doubt anyone will be there - so they can justify still charging tuition to hold the spot.

To the extent it matters, this is not a daycare catering to first responders, with the exception of some doctors. Most others are lawyers and the like.
