Do not check in with her spouse regarding her mental health. Do keep chatting with your friend to see how she’s acting/ feeling and be there as a sounding board. Do send the food delivery.

This.

I wouldn’t ask about the ppd. If she brings it up, fine.

Really? She and I talked about it before the baby was born. But I haven't really discussed it with her husband explicitly, mainly she he wasn't around much.

You discussing PPD with your friend might be ok. But to discuss her PPD with her husband behind her back is just weird and inappropriate. You have boundary issues.

She is. Her spouse travels a lot for work but is grounded for now, which sounds likely it's mostly helpful but also a little stressful. I gather he's occupied putting out a lot of work fires right now, so it's hard to have someone else in the house who is not really helping with the kids, if that makes sense.

But good idea to check in with him. I guess I should just ask directly about PPD. That feels strange since we rarely communicate.

My best friend has a toddler and a two week old. I actually had planned to take off work to help her out as her first baby was a handful and she also ended up with PPD. I have a kid who has had a sporadic fever and vomiting over the last few weeks, so I don't even want to drop off food as planned.

What else can I do to support without going in person? We check in on text or FaceTime. What else?
