Are you the PP who asked? So this is for a high school senior? Attending a CC wouldn't be a gap year. That would probably involve withdrawing from the four year university and later applying as a transfer.

That literally brings tears to my eyes. I was six months pregnant on 9/11; he was born in December.

I'm more worried about my HS senior's graduation being canceled. We've been told to prepare our kids for that reality. DC will be going to a UC in California and they are on the quarter system, so late September start. I think they'll be fine with start date.

My kid's school has organized what sounds like a good system. You make an appointment to pick up your stuff. The appointments are 4 hour slots. Only 50 kids (spread across dorms) are allowed on campus at a time to do this.

They have spread the move out over like ten days (to accomodate all of the appointments).

Seems well thought out to me.

Move-in - maybe.

Orientation - almost certainly not.

Don't try to look more than a week ahead. Just keep your family at home, make sure everyone else in your world is doing the same. Best way to do your part to help life get back to normal.

My kid is supposed to go to new student orientation in early June and move into the dorms on August 15. Is this even going to happen?
