Nothing. We are buying nothing but food and household necessities right now.

Dig out the old toys and let them become new.

Art supplies, lots of paper, workbooks and coloring books, playing cards and puzzles, and new books. I’m slowly doling things out. They will probably get a few new games on their Nintendo switch.

Same here. If you have flour or cornstarch to spare, it might be fun to make playdough or slime.

Do you have any leftover art kits from previous birthdays? I’m rummaging through the cabinets for old supplies that get used rarely. I have found a bath bomb making kit (first used a year ago - now used up), spin art (using old paints with paint brushes instead of squirty paint), a headband making kit (because we could only make so many the first time around), etc. I hope my art drawers are much emptier soon.

Oil pastels, slime ingredients, watercolors, cardstock, and we are giving them basically unlimited audiobooks and kindle books.

I have a 3 year old.

I restocked our art supplies and bought a couple of new coloring books.

I got a couple of new puzzles that she can grow into if we don't use them for this situation, but that we can do together if I do get them out.

I got an extra set of magformers to add to our existing collection.

There are a few things I'd bought for the easter basket that may not make it that far. I've got sidewalk chalk and a paw patrol playdoh set and a playmobil dog thing, so we'll see how it goes. Trying to just rotate through what we already have out.

We had to put some toys away a few weeks back. She’s going to do a toy exchange today with those. We didn’t get anything extra we just digging in and participating with the things she has. Lots of drawing and letter practice when she feels like it. I’m stealing an idea from her preschool and we’re doing a little planning each day of what she wants to do. I wrote up a new schedule of things she wanted to include yesterday. We actually did most of them. Things like make Jell-O, play go fish, lunch, go for a walk, QUIET TIME, and a few other things. After completing each task she would cross them off list. I’m not following a strong time schedule for stuff but it seems to help to have a little bit of structure. i’m also a contract worker that is unable to telework so I have a little more free time than many right now. (and I’m trying to fill it so I don’t freak out about a total loss of income!!)

I know this doesn’t answer your question directly. But really kids don’t need that much they just need a little nudge and their imaginations take over. I do find I need to be a lot more on then I normally am. Which is why we’re definitely doing quiet time, and some tv.

What did you buy to entertain kids on weekday & weekend to make them stay home to practice social distancing? Please specific age & what to buy.
I have a 4 year old, and I am looking for ideas what to buy to entertain him to not get bored at home & not watch too much tv whole day.
