For anyone that has non-perishables to donate, Kilmer Middle School in Vienna is accepting donations from 1000 to 1200 Sunday March 15th at the school. The items will be distributed to families in need on Monday afternoon.

This is a pretty long closure and not all poor families have fridges. Kids left home alone cannot use the stove. Bring shelf stable ready to eat items-those tuna lunch kits that are shelf stable, peanut butter, granola bars, etc.

Money. Food banks get deals for buying in bulk and can get the items they are low on. Thank you for giving!!!

I'm in San Francisco, and while all the public libraries are now closed to the general public as of Friday March 13 at 6pm, I went to the one in my hood and found out that they will be open specifically for:

1. Kids in public school who will now have to do school from home but don't have internet access, and
2. They will be operating as a daycare for the employees of UCSF who have kids that need to be watched.

So this morning I just dropped off a bunch of stickers, animal crackers, oranges, coconut waters, and Lara bars. They will give them out to kids.

Was coming here to post re: Food for Others. Have been involved with them for years. They're prepping now for an expected increase in food requests and could greatly use food donations right away--I just heard this yesterday from a friend who volunteers with them.

I have no idea but I am a pgcps teacher and we are terrified of the students that depend on our food, which is quite a bit. Yes they set up food places at certain schools but the parents don’t have transportation or the mental capacity to know what to do. Some of us teachers are getting together to go and check in on them with food.
