Interactive is far better than regular tv. The issue is how it is used. You can use it for educational purposes. I wish we did it sooner.

Another vote for ipad. Our dd has had one since she was in preschool. The options are versatile and the functioning compared to other tablets is superior.

+1. We got a refurbished iPad that was a few years old for I think like $130 and it’s been great.

What Amazon, but it depends on the size. That sounds a bit high.

I agree, the kids kindle fire is the way to go. When it's on sale, you can get a great deal.

We use an iPad because we use Apple TV so when we buy something on iTunes we can watch it anywhere. My family is on the east coast so we got them for plane rides and will occasionally use them for really long car rides. They're 4 years old at this point (the iPads, not the kids) and they still work great, so to me they were worth the cost. To be fair, I've never seen a Kindle Fire so those might be awesome as well, but we've been really happy keeping things in the Apple family. We also have multiple photo streams on our phones and those are also on the iPads and the kids love looking through old pictures and videos.

Kids Kindle Fire when it goes on sale. You get two years of freetime for books and other stuff, great warranty and case.

Otherwise, iPad.

We want it buy our DC 4 yr old a tablet for his 4th birthday. Had very limited screen time until 3.5yr and now that nap time has diminished we often do a show for quiet time in the afternoon. My hope is to use the tablet in the afternoon for an educational game or show in place of nap. With that said any recommendations on what to buy and why you like it? Thanks so much!
