I’ve had to do this occasionally on snow days. You’ll just be triaging during most of the day and then maybe you can sit down and do some real work at nap time and after your spouse is home or kid is in bed.

I used to get up really early and do a block of work before my child woke up, and then another during nap/tv and then some after his bedtime. It's really hard to do a full workday that way but you can do 5-6 hours. It's hard.

I told my employer that I'll be teleworking at weird hours at night when the kids are asleep. I'll also have to use some annual leave. It's just what we're going to have to do for a while.

Daycare (and all day preschool) has to be the worst possible place in terms of communicable viruses. If you can keep your kids out, you should. We took DD out of all day preschool this week.

We have a 5 year old as well, and I'm not entirely sure how it will work. We'll need to trade off time with the kids and working and time with them in front of the tv.

But just me at home with a toddler with no one to trade off with? I can only work when the toddler is asleep. Maybe 5-15 minutes spurts while he's awake, but nothing concentrated.

How do you think single parents do it?

I have a 3 year old. There's no way I could work with her in the house.

Kids are largely immune from this virus. I wouldn't pull your kid out.

Almost none while he is awake.

Just came from the Dollar Store where I picked up supplies to try to keep by four year old occupied. New markers, big sketchpads, packets of seeds and buckets, glitter/googly eyes to make rock people, and a few cheap toys to keep things interesting. My son's school was cancelled and I have to work at home today. I will also have to use Netflix but trying to hold off as long as possible. Good luck everyone!

It's going to be so hard, especially when playgrounds are off limits. We did a long walk on Sunday instead to try and wear them out.

I have a really independent toddler, and no, this is not really feasible, especially if your toddler isn't used to being at home and doesn't have a routine like "you do this activity for one hour in the morning while mommy works." You will definitely get naptime, and maybe you can set up a cool new activity and get like an hour, and then maybe another hour with TV. That's all unless your toddler is like WHY AM I AT HOME AND NOT AT DAYCARE I WILL CHOOSE TO GO INSANE NOW!

Even if your employer allows telework w/childcare responsibilities, you won't get any work done. Maybe a bit while they nap.

It's not except for naps unless you plug them in front of the tv for hours.

How feasible is this? I’m debating taking my kid out of daycare while this boils over, kid is 2 y/o
