I would agree with this. I have family who went there, and we now go down every year for a football game. It's a very special place that I can't really describe. It's a fairly wealthy school in that the kids self segregate. Very Greek oriented and kids dress up. Lots of Southern families.
It's definitely in the middle of nowhere, though that's changed a lot in the past 25 years. There is more stuff around. Greenville is a really cute little city. Getting there is not easy from here. There are only two direct flights a day from DCA, and they are expensive. You cannot beat the football culture if you are into that. The campus is pretty spread out, and it's not that "pretty" aside from
Bowman Hall. Lots of kids drink and drive as there is a large good old boy Southern network where this is not considered taboo. A lot of the guys hunt. There is a LOT of money there. Many kids who take private jets there. The little airport is incredible and I always wonder "who are these people?!?"
