OP here - plan is 6-8 (maybe 9). I'm just a few minutes from the mall or I might hang out.

What time on Sat. night? I tend to think it is fine.

I might compromise with this, but only for an hour.

Why only an hour?

I not only think it is fine, but that it is a great way to foster independence and build confidence and problem solving skills. At that age, I stayed in the mall so I could meet up quickly if something came up (though it never did).

PP here whose daughter goes to Wheaton mall. I checked back in because I wondered the same thing. I sit at the mall and can’t think of any reason it’s unsafe.

Not in 7th grade. Not at night.

I lean to yes. Do you know her friends for the most part.

My 7th trader goes to the mall all the time with friends - Wheaton, not Tyson’s. It’s fine. She typically likes if I hang in case she wants money. I usually buy a bottle of water and sit on a bench and read.

Of course she can go. You can hang out elsewhere in the mall if that makes you more comfortable.

Absolutely not, imo. I know Tyson’s on weekend evenings, and wouldn’t even want my 14 year old to be hanging out there with “friends”.

MY 7th grade daughter wants to go hang at the mall (Tysons) on Saturday night. I generally lean on the side of independence and not helicoptering - she's walked to/from school since 5th grade, is responsible/accountable, so I'm inclined to say yes.

Is there any reason you'd say no? She's meeting up with a group of girls and boys from her school.
