I breastfed my kids for years. Interestingly we have never had strep throat or any other bacterial infections (yet?) although they catch viruses and get high fevers. Maybe it is a genetic thing.

We use Ocillococcinum at the first sign of cough, cold, chills, sore throat etc.

Hand washing and gargles with warm water and salt.

Multi vitamins, zinc tablets, ginger juice in warm water with honey and turmeric.

Flu shots every year, two weeks before school opens.

Finally, I keep them home at the first sign of any ailment and let them rest. Usually with Ocillococcinum and the various hot drinks and sleep, they are fully recovered in 24 hours.

Mostly cheese and carbs. He's shockingly healthy.

My 3 kids have never gotten the flu. My oldest is generally healthy (did not miss a day of school until 4th grade)

Diet: He does not like fruits or vegetables. He does not like french fries either. He might have something green 2 times a week. Lots of chicken nuggets, steak, beef jerky. Breakfast: A bowl of cereal (dry), lunch a protein bar, dinner see above.

He does not typically have vitamins or other supplements. He was breastfed - but I really do not think it matters.

Was it diagnosed as flu and were they given tamiflu? People generally call any viral fever with cold and cough as flu.

3 kids - no one has had the flu so far (6, 9 and 11)

6 year old has a good diet and eats plenty of fruit and veggies
11 year old has a pretty good diet but not much fruit other than apples
9 year old eats mainly cheese and bread with cucumber and strawberries for their only fruit/veggies

We do get the flu shot every year, but mainly focus on hand washing - not that that seems to have prevented repeated strep and other bacterial infections (including e coli)

This. I think I've had a fever as an adult maybe twice? I have an 8yo who has a stuffy nose or cough on occasion, but never fevers (and we skipped a flu shot the past few years--I know, I know!). Spouse, a physician, gets a fever pretty much at least once per winter--I think spouse is made of weaker stuff.

Mostly plant-based diet -- leafy greens every-damn-day -- and vitamins. But when given the option, my kid east bacon. Could probably eat it all day if allowed

Also, Dr Bronner's hand sanitizer for times when hand-washing is out. My son even has it in his lunch box and backpack. He's not a germaphobe, but he gets why it is important and we've been using it since he was a toddler so it is just habit.

No flu ever for my 9 and 12 year old. Don’t think it has anything to do with diet. We do get the flu shot, which is helpful but not dispositive. Just do t get sick much. None of us do.

Vegetarian and lots of fruit.

My husband is a doctor and gives the kids a rotation of vitamins and fish oil, which personally I don't believe is necessary; and also taught them to wash their hands and practice good hygiene generally - now that I DO believe in.

Do they get flu shots?

My kids are 8 and 9. They are both generally healthy but they have each had the flu (influenza) 3 times in their lives. Several family friends of ours, with similarly aged kids, have never had the flu, despite being exposed repeatedly. I know there is so little we know about this but one thing I noted is that these families eat berries daily. If your kids seem to avoid getting the flu do you think it’s because of any dietary habits?
