There are clubs which have poorly-run travel teams, so you have players who SHOULD deplane travel but aren't because their club is poorly organized. So they stick to SFL because the parents may not know any better and their kids are playing with their friends from their neighborhood or school so it works out for everybody

Clifton. Check out SYA, NVSC, and any other teams / clubs that practice at South Run or Braddock or Patriot parks.

That said. I am sure a big clubs all star rec team could be just as good or better than another clubs lower tier teams. EG Loudoun rec all star VS Alexandria’s fifth team.

Our club does this every year. They let the All Stars team scrimmage the lower level team in that age group as a way to prep for the all stars tournament. Happens all the time.

Which club and does the rec team ever win?

I think Burke ac is the strongest at the U-littles ages.

I would not do SYA for a younger boy if they still have that one nut job coach.

I don't see why rec soccer would be a waste of time, there are always kids who can't afford travel so there will be a few good players.

I have seen rec teams crushing travel teams many times. Often coaches of rec teams are parents that know more about soccer than club coaches.

Which club are you at? It's been the other way around for us and I've had 3 boys and 1 daughter go through travel ball. Not once have I seen a rec team win and they have all been during All Stars teams.

I have never seen a Rec team crush a travel team. Not that it hasn't happened, but whoa...

As a travel parent, I'd have to question what I was paying for.

Burke Athletic Club has good coaches in some age groups. Look for the best coach, not club/team.

for a third grade boy (2011) and a fifth grade boy (2008). I want them both at the same club. I have found CYA, BRYC, SYA, and FC Dulles are all nearby---does anyone have any thoughts on these clubs for the younger boy ages? Am I missing any? I don't want to sit in traffic every day so close by is important but I also don't want to waste money on a bad experience. Also, would doing spring rec soccer be just a waste of time--are all the good players in travel?
