OP here, Ive been looking at minted and agree their designs are nicer than Zazzle and others. Thanks for the top about Minted more. I saw the ad but didnt know the details. Also planning on a baby announcement after the birth.

It really depends - my sister planned from out of town, so it was easier for her to do Paperless Post. I don't think people really care anymore - maybe a few people from your mom's generation will be offended, but no one from yours will be!

The shower is probably split 50/50 between my friends about my age (and their kids) and family or family friends who are my parents generation. Everyone among the older crowd uses email. Her preference for paper is just related to her formal entertaining style -- ie she providing the glassware, tablecloths and cloth napkins, etc. for the party.

FWIW I do plan to do paper birth announcements after the baby arrives.

Are you inviting old people (by this I mean the 65+ crowd). If so, I'd go ahead and send them a paper invitation. Otherwise just do electronic.

I hate to say this, because it really disappoints me that paper invites are an outdated concept, but an astonishing number of people claimed not to have received them last year for my sister’s shower. Never again.

We did Paperless Post. The attendees were mostly our friends (coed shower), so our generation.

Op, I'm probably your Mom's age. I'm trying to get comfortable with DD's idea of electronic, only, for wedding invitations. What I have learned about myself ... watch for the general trend of Mom getting too bossy and wanting things her way. Because that's how they should be done! That' how things USE to be done. Your generation is doing it differently. You might have her address and manage the paper invitations if the issue is so important to her - maybe some of the older invitees aren't on the computer much?

Our host did electronic on paperless post because it's easier to track down/remind people to RSVP and we didn't want to waste paper. Also, it's convenient to have registry, directions, etc. all in one place for guests to check from any device and not have to hang onto a paper invitation.

What did you use for your shower invitations? My friend is hosting my shower and asked me what I wanted. There are some cute, not expensive designs on Paperless Post but my mother thinks it should have paper invitations. What do people mostly use? If you did use paper, who did you use?
