The fatality rate at the epicenter of the pandemic is 2%. The people who are most vulnerable are very young children, very old people, and those with underlying health conditions.

I would hope the fatality rate here would be better than in Wuhan, where the health infrastructure is worse.

Honestly, I think most people will get it here but will recover fine. I am more concerned about the financial ramifications.

I find it hopeful that big pharma is getting in on creating the vaccine - the more people working on combating this, the better.

I think this is an interesting article- basically says we need to stop hoarding and quarantining because its too late. We need to work together to solve the problem other ways.

I know this is the good news forum but you can't equate this with Ebola. Ebola is extremely deadly but hard to transmit; this seems to be very easy to spread but not nearly as deadly thank goodness (so that's good news!)

The UK is "well prepared" to deal with coronavirus cases and the risk to individuals "remains low", the government has said.
Downing Street said 99% of those tested in the UK had come back negative.
The total number of cases in the UK has risen to 13 after four cruise ship passengers flown back to Britain on Saturday tested positive for the virus.
It comes amid growing fears the outbreak could reach pandemic scale as more cases emerge around the world.
A total of 6,536 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the UK as of 14:00 GMT on Monday, with 6,527 returning as negative, the Department of Health said.
Italy has the largest number of coronavirus cases in Europe, currently 165, and has reported its fifth death from the virus.
It has taken tough measures to try and contain the outbreak, including enforcing a lockdown in several small towns in the Lombardy and Veneto regions.

Twenty Germans who had visited China were released from a two-week quarantine at a German Red Cross (DRK) clinic on Sunday in Berlin.
We are "very relieved" that the novel coronavirus had not been detected in any of those affected, said DRK Secretary-General Christian Reuter in a statement.
The 14-day isolation had been an "enormous" burden for all concerned, he added.

Two weeks ago, the 20 Germans had been flown back from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of coronavirus. The group included 16 adults and four children.

The group on Friday tested negative on their fourth and final test for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Since Friday, the DRK has been caring for another 15 Wuhan returnees in Kirchheim unter Teck in Baden-Württemberg. On Saturday, six German passengers of the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" also arrived in Germany after the quarantine on the ship had ended.
Last Sunday, more than 100 German Wuhan evacuees were given the all clear to leave quarantined military barracks in Germersheim, Germany. There were initially 122 people on their flight, two of whom tested positive for the virus and were quarantined separately in Frankfurt.
Germany has reported 16 cases of coronavirus but no deaths. Several of the cases were linked to one company in the southern state of Bavaria, following the visit of an executive from China.

Coronavirus: Singapore recovery rate outpaces infections for fourth day in a row

Singapore reported the discharge from hospital of two recovered coronavirus patients on Monday, marking the fourth consecutive day that the total number of discharged patients has been higher than the number of infected ones.
