My DCs school said they will be canceling study abroad for any program located in a country designated as a Warning Level 3 by the CDC. So as of today that is China and S. Korea:

My DC is supposed to be going on a spring break study tour also. I have no idea how the school will handle this. I wouldn't want to be the one making that decision.

My DD’s spring break program has a dozen kids and one professor. I’m wondering what the students do if the professor gets sick or quarantined along the way. She is buying all of their tickets and even supplying some local currency/meal funds. As if having your kid go overseas wasn’t already expensive and stressful!

They don't want to see their programs fall through unnecessarily. If asking for deposits, it seems they would somehow acknowledge the risk though.

Canceling abroad programs in China is a given right now, but what about the rest over spring break and summer? My junior has one planned for a month in Paris and Rome this summer. It's time to start paying deposits and making reservations. My guess is insurance plans may not cover the expenses if the situation worsens and the program is pulled. The college hasn't said a thing about the potential issue to my knowledge. Has anyone heard of colleges starting to address these plans yet?

Italy just cancelled all classes for atleast a week, probably longer. Current study abroad students are not allowed to travel and are wearing masks there. Daughter has several friends there now and they are nervous/scared.
