Oh? Interesting to know. We talked yesterday about whether or not we needed to check out the Niro since they had shared tech. I think I will make sure we check it out now. Thanks!

I test drove both of those, but ended up with the Kia Niro. It felt much nicer inside despite sharing technology with the Ioniq. I love mine.

We did not test dive the ICE so I am sure there is some difference. If the whole process didn't take 3 hours it would have been nice to test drive the ICE version to see the differences. I doubt there is no differences but it wasn't something that would swing us to buy the car.

I do know about the 7500 fed credit. WE are in VA so no state credit (for now, hoping dems change that!).

Interesting about cheap finishes. We currently own a 2015 Sienna and 1998 corolla and DH felt like the 98 corolla was nicer (or would have been if it was new) but that may just be the difference between Hyundai and Toyota (I don't have any experience with Hyundai). Also this is personal preference, but I hate that you can only get the fancier models with leather seats. Both DH and I dislike leather (I know we are strange) but I wish you had a choice between cloth or leather.

Interesting about the $99 lease deal, we were not informed of that, the lease price we saw was a $272.

The Ioniq had lease deals for $99/month, and both cars get a $7,500 fed tax credit and state tax credits in MD at least.

I would be shocked if there was no difference in driving between them and an ICE— the Kona ev has 291 ft-lb of torque for example.

No surprise the finishes felt cheap— have heard that for every EV to some degree— including tesla. There’s a lot of pressure to keep costs and weight down

The Kona is a lot smaller than I pictured. I like the style of the Ioniq better. Kona was zippier and Ioniq felt just like a normal car. Both drove nice and had decent pick up. But the biggest issue? The ICE version of both cars is around 20K while the EV version is 40K. So you are driving a car that feels like a 20K but costs 40K. The cars both felt cheap and DH found them uncomfortable. It is a bit unfortunate that the only change between the ICE and EV version is what drives the car and there are no finishing upgrades for an additional 20K.

Probably why most folks said in the other post they wound up with Tesla.
