Why didn’t you get your child the flu shot before coming overseas? Curiously especially bc you traveled overseas during flu season.

If it wasn't flu season there, it's reasonable to assume pediatricians weren't stocking it.

PS: Ahh - I see the OP specified they had an ~18 month old. In that case, you are absolutely correct, PP!

Not if the child has had two doses in a previous year, or at least two doses in two separate prior years. Not if they are following the CDC guidelines.

Children 6 months through 8 years getting a flu vaccine for the first time, and those who have only previously gotten one dose of flu vaccine, should get two doses of vaccine. The first dose should be given as soon as vaccine becomes available.

At CVS have to go to a minute clinic and not the pharmacists.

CVS Pharmacists give flu shots to adults and seniors. MinuteClinic® providers can give flu shots and provide treatment to those 18 months and older.*

*FOR FLU SHOTS AT MINUTECLINIC: MinuteClinic® provides flu vaccinations to patients 18 months and older (ages 2+ in KY; ages 5+ in CT), high–dose vaccines for people 65+ (when available), flu tests and treatment. Get details

Most minute clinics, Targets, Giants and the like won't do kids under 5. We ran into this all the time.

Pediatric and adolescent care of silver spring. Bit of a hike but they had some (not sure if they will give it to a non-patient).

You need to find a regular pediatrician for your kid. And ask if they have flu shots right now. Try Capitol Medical Group.

Check Target. The one with the clinic by us does kids. We all got our shots there.

If your child didn’t have the flu shot last year, they will recommend that they get 2 shots.

I’m looking for a pediatrician in NW or Bethesda that might have flu vaccine in stock. My 1.5yo and I just moved here from overseas (where it’s not flu season) and while I could go to minute clinic, they don’t do kids there. I’ve called a few peds I’ve seen recommended on here and they are all understandably out. If anyone has any leads I’d appreciate it!
