It definitely is more popular with our VA catholic. Several kids went last year. It used to be you only went for the Benilde program.

Many don't want an education based on the religious tenets that ST. John's espouses. That doesn't make it better or worse, but there many who wouldn't consider an Episcopalian, Quaker or non-denominational school either.

SJC goes in and out of favor at our K-8 as well. It tends to go in waves based on prior year’s graduation class matriculation. It’s a fine school and if your child is in the honors program it can be a solid curriculum and peer group. Of course it is also a good value with the more modest tuition.

It's one of the few co-ed Catholic schools in the DC area. Lots of school spirit, sports teams are good....fun going to games.

It's certainly not about the academics...although a student could fashion a strong curriculum.

Parents like the price tag.

What school is your DC in OP?
