I always understood Irish twins to be 2 kids under the age of 1.

OP- the title of the post references people who have had kids between 12 and 24 months apart, looking for those experiences.

Irish twins are 2 under 1. 2 under 2 is not rare at all esp now when people are trying in their 30s.

Still, my advice is to get some help with 1 before 2 gets here. You will reduce the jealousy if she is more used to time with others.

Mine are 3/4 and it’s really fun now. The first 2 years were HARD. Prepare but also know you’re in for a real treat down the road.

It was really hard when my youngest was 12 months -24 months. Hard hard. Fights and jealousy over anything. We didn’t get much sleep. I’d do it over again but I feel I barely survived. My youngest is 24 months so I can’t tell for certain it’s better but I’m hoping.

If you can afford to hire some help, or even if you can't really, I would get some. It's a tough first year.

Yup. Take lots of pictures and videos in the early months. Make sure there is always room on your lap for both babies (or close enough - my 1-year-old liked to sit between my feet while I held the newborn).

The first 6-ish months were really rough then things got easier. When the youngest was about 2.5, things got awesome and have just gotten better! Congrats.

Take lots of photos and videos! Like someone else said, it’s a blur! Ours are now 3 and 4 and it’s a lot of fun! Looking forward to this summer when we’re out of diapers and both kids are into the same rides at the boardwalk!

Mine are 17mths apart and I love it. They’re now 9 and 10 and it is so perfect. Also a single mom. I think them being close in age helps me out.

Super hard at first after the first 2-3 yrs, it’s fantastic. Cake.

My kids (now teens) are twelve months apart. All I can say is the toddler years were very very hard but at least they have each other to play with at that age. And once you’re past that stage it does get easier, and fun.

It's really not a huge deal = it's nice to be finished with the baby stage in about four years.
