This is why this shouldn't be done by email. There are spam filters and bounce back and the like. It's also not the secure way to transmit personal data.

Let students log into a secure portal and see things there.

Will be so glad when the wait is over. Really hopeful but anxious for my DC.

For the folks that keep saying VT is a safety...
I know many are basing that on the 70% acceptance rate, but it's important to dig into those numbers a little bit.
SCHEV has some interesting data on this.
For one thing, they admit a LOT of out of state applicants. More than in state. They can do that because far fewer out of state end up enrolling. So that's one thing that drives up the overall admit number.

When you look at the admit rate for students from NOVA, it's a different story.

Notice how none of the NOVA jurisdictions were getting 70% admit. Arlington came close two years ago, but significant decrease this past year. Now all of the NOVA jurisdictions are near 50% which is certainly not a safety. Also keeping in mind the acceptance rate will probably drop even further this year, because they have to adjust for the over-enrollment last year.

Just checked back with College Confidential, and apparently some of the folks that did not receive email contacted Admissions, and Admissions confirmed that they did send email, but that some had been bouncing back, even with correct email addresses (apparently that happens sometimes with mass emails.)

So, not some indicator or "tell", and since mass email is different type of technology from the admissions portal, hopefully all will go smoothly on the 22nd.

I think it's great when schools release earlier than their anticipated date (esp when the date was decided 6 months earlier and before they knew how many apps they would receive), but it seems that releasing early has become the EXPECTATION.... people getting angry and disappointed that they are actually releasing when they said they would. No real sympathy for the school, but it seems they cannot win in this case.

I appreciate a deadline, but there is something about releasing at least a few days early that implies the college has it together, got through all the applications without rushing around, and are confident in their decisions since they had some time to spare. May not be the reality but it's an impression!

My kid received email this afternoon. I, the parent, did not, although I did receive other scholarship and financial aid email from VT in the past.

Yes. My DD received this notification via email today.

Don’t know about the date. Kid must check on line. Parents do not receive any notification. ( Including bills, even if you’re paying.) everything goes through kid’s on line access.

I'm hearing there are emails from VT saying they'll announce EA on 2/22. Had anyone received those and can confirm? Are the emails going only to students or also parents? (I wouldn't had even expected them to go to parents, but they did send something earlier about scholarship deadlines.)
