When you poke a hornet's nest, you can't be shocked when the hornets get angry.

So don't poke hornet's nests.

You might also be unaware that about half the population in Virginia now lives in gun "sanctuary" counties, and that some of these counties are starting government sanctioned militias. All if this started not just from Del Levine's bill, but from fellow delegates who wanted the state police to go door to door and confiscate weapons.

You have a lot of people who are incredibly upset by heated rhetoric.

I can only hope cooler heads prevail as Del Levine's legislation is submitted again next year.

There is no "context" in which it's appropriate to threaten to murder someone.

To argue from this person's perspective, to use either military or police resources to attempt to take his firearms in an attempt on his life. He would appear to believe that it is appropriate to react in kind should that threat be acted upon. This is what the quote is referring to.

Red flag laws and confiscation are likely to have violent results.

Then why is it appropriate for his fellow delegates to threaten the lives of gun owners?

You aren't paying attention to the entirety not the quote provided.

You think there's a broader context that justifies this? Please elaborate, with more than, "people are upset."

Also, gun sanctuary counties are meaningless.

I'm merely explaining that there is considerable pushback and county government so angry that they are willing to deputize and train militias in response to fears that the national guard was going to be called out to take firearms. That was actually a position advocated by some Virgina delegates and eventually answered by the VA national guard.

Apparently you weren't following the 75 page thread last month on the gun lobby day.

You now have a lot of newly energised people who are more inclined to vote GOP next time.

And every stunt like this and every school schooling energizes gun control voters.

That may be true, but the GOP didn't field cannidates for around 20 seats last year.

I don't think that number will be the same next time.

Why is this unhinged "militia member" operating outside of his county? He has no jurisdiction in Alexandria.

If you want to preach about being lawful gun owners, then follow your own advice. Every time you march around in public with a gun or begin threatening others, you're just advertising to the rest of the world that you're a loon who should be kept far away from dangerous weapons.

Do you not see how tactics like this will only backfire against your cause?

There is no excuse for threatening and intimidating with guns. Zero.

This only makes Virginians want to tighten gun regulations even more. What's next - intimidating with guns outside of school?

If a student intimidated another kid with a gun, that student would be arrested.

This past weekend the chairman of a Virginia Republican organization TERRORIZED a VA state delegate outside his home just because he disagreed with his politics.

Levine:
"He was not outside my home for self defense," Levine said. "He was not outside my home for hunting. He was not outside my home for target shooting."

Nutjob:
"I hope you kiss your wife, I hope you kiss your husband, I hope you kiss your children goodbye before you come and try to take mine," he said. "Because, that's the last time you will ever kiss them in your life, because you're only getting my gun, one way, and that's with the business end."

Nice job, GOP! I'm sure that will win over voters.
