Someone posted on another thread the National rankings for the 2022 teams. Looks like the Pride 22 team was ranked in the 40s last year but this year dropped to the 70-80s (one post for Pride black in 70s and one for Pride red in 80s - same team though so they are probably right between the two numbers). What happened? How did they fall down so far?

I agree, Pride is a well run program, and the owner is not my cup of tea, in fact I think the she is a horrible person.

So many people on here have no idea what they're talking about. Does Pride give priority to the players who were committed to them? They tried their best to, but did have to let some HS players go this year--and believe me, they wanted to stay. I am a parent (not the owner) and know that there were spots available when tryouts were held in July. Showing loyalty to your players, who have been playing together successfully for years, is not "rigged," it's smart coaching and smart business. The owner may not be everybody's cup of tea, but she is running a great program.

She sees it as believing in her players, and plenty of teams default to their current players. Now, the girls who are let on without tryouts just because of connections/money...that’s a different ball of wax.

Not saying it's good or bad thing, but most people would say exchanging funds in return for a pre-determined outcome is rigging.... just sayin'

So they aren't looking for the best players or trying to improve needs on a particular team. While perhaps that pays off in the short-term, over time they just won't be as good. And the top players will be more likely to look for other teams that don't have any "dead weight" so to speak.

And if this type of things trickles down to the younger grades, that will spell even bigger problems. The kids just good enough in fourth, fifth, sixth grade need to be replaced by others who may have more potential. A kid who has barely picked up a stick but is as good as someone on Pride's teams in those years would get turned away by "guaranteeing" spots. Stupid business model.

Since there seems to be a lot of discussion in the Capitol Lacrosse Rumors forum (and other threads) on Pride Lacrosse, why not give Pride it's own thread? Like it or not, Pride is not an upstart and is a major program for girls in the area.

From reading other forums, there seems to be a lot of rumors floating around about Pride Lacrosse. Some may be true, some are likely false, and some probably fall in between. These rumors range from questions about their owner's motives, to the rigging of tryouts, to their move to Baltimore (or not), how great they are, how they won some game in the past and that should count now, how they have 3 B teams in a money grab, how there is some biased formula in national rankings, how they are the best option for high school, how no Stars girls tried out for their club, how their high school teams are burdened in rankings due to their middle school record, how they are good for DMV lacrosse as another option for girls, to how they are sure to place a lot of girls at D1 schools, and so on.

Let's have one thread where it all can be discussed about Pride. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Have at it.
