So they aren't looking for the best players or trying to improve needs on a particular team. While perhaps that pays off in the short-term, over time they just won't be as good. And the top players will be more likely to look for other teams that don't have any "dead weight" so to speak.
And if this type of things trickles down to the younger grades, that will spell even bigger problems. The kids just good enough in fourth, fifth, sixth grade need to be replaced by others who may have more potential. A kid who has barely picked up a stick but is as good as someone on Pride's teams in those years would get turned away by "guaranteeing" spots. Stupid business model.
