What does “youngish” mean? Seems as bad as the phrases you mention (which I have never heard).

Anonymous wrote:“It is what it is” is a hated saying (always comes up when DCUMers state the sayings they hate), but I think it’s so useful. It’s an acknowledgement that some things can’t be changed so we must accept them. I don’t use the others, but whatever, who cares. You can’t really change what people say. It is what it is, you know?

I dont mind at the end of the day, either.

In the crazy Type A hyper competitive gunner world we live in, I feel like people do frequently need to be reminded they do t have control over everything. Hence at the end of the day, it is what it is!

Verbal tics and stand-ins are annoying, and we are ALL guilty of them to a certain extent when our brains ate lazy and can’t create original content, but it says a lot about you that you would actually post this on DCUM.

if they are complimenting you say on your hair, they will say "you have hair for days" or if they are saying you have nice taste " X, you have taste for days" hate this

At the end of the day (possibly most abused of them all)

It is what is - no shit sherlock

when they are referring to a state of mind, lets say someone is in the mood for a margarita she will say "i am having a margarita moment" or wants to go and buy new cloths " i need to have a wardrobe moment"

i mean seriously? maybe for a 16 year old girl to say these but its like hey are picking up every contrived line there is and using and abusing it....hopefully I am not alone in being irked by these?

I am going to agree. My own sister (44) says a lot of this. My own husband started saying "at the end of the day" way too often and people (close friends and family) started mentioning it and joking about it to him. Eventually I think he came self conscious about it and uses it far less (thankfully)!
I think this catchy little phrases are some women's way to trying to be relevant/current/with the times. Harmless, yes. Annoying? Absolutely!

I cringe when adults say mean, or racist, or ignorant things. Hair for days? Margarita moment? Not even something I would think to expend mental energy on. I’m sorry O.P., I think you need to look inwards to find out why these things bother you SO much.

I think you just hate these people. If you actually liked them you wouldn’t feel simmering rage over the specific phrases they use. Maybe just stay home?
