With daycare costs that is out of budget. Maybe we need to give him up?

Just feed him when you wake up, and one of you can take him for a brisk walk/jog to wear him out. He can sleep all day until you get home. Please don't rehome him now that baby is here, your dog will be heartbroken.

I think you need to hire a dog walker but I would also not take this advice - if you exercise the dog a lot in the morning he will then drink a lot and have to hold it for way too long. The morning walk should just be about emptying. The afternoon walk is exercise, then another quick bathroom break before bed.

This works for my friend who works out of the home all day. Many people work and have this same issue, and their dogs survive just fine.

pp again -- I don't think you need a dog walker mid-day unless you have a puppy.

Please be reasonable, people. Plenty of dogs happily stay home for 8 hours at a time during the week (my dog included). Breakfast and long walk at 6am, let outside again at 9am, let outside upon returning home, dinner and long walk in the evening, let outside again at 9 or 10pm. Your dog will need to slowly get adjusted to this schedule.

Give up the baby.

I used to zip home at lunch to walk dog, but that meant I don't get home until 6 which was no big deal before baby.

What do people do when they are gone for long blocks with all adults working out of the house?

You need to make choices. If you do not have the budget for a dog walker, I would recommend you get rid of the kid now.

You should have planned all of this out before getting pregnant.
Don’t pull the “it was a surprise pregnancy.” If that’s the case, you had 9 months to figure it out. I hate dogs but your just pathetic

You could find one for $15 a walk you just have to look or ask around. I noticed my neighbor had a mid day dog walker and asked her about it. I worked out a deal with her dog walker to to also walk my dogs.

Maybe hire a teen looking to make extra cash to stop by after school.

omfg, why did you get a dog? What are you going to do if/when he gets sick? I don’t understand people at all.

Use the Rover app ... you can hire a walker on the regular or as needed basis .. for $30 or so.

So we just had a baby, so with daycare drop off and shifted schedule one parent is leaving at 9 am and no one gets back home until 5pm since we have to get baby etc.

I used to zip home at lunch to walk dog, but that meant I don't get home until 6 which was no big deal before baby.
