OP here -- she got an uber & paid for it herself. If she had said she was taking the bus/train, I might have pushed more.

I'm not driving her home because (a) I don't own a car and (b) I'd had a couple of cocktails.

Maybe next time I'll chip in a few bucks more to cover her uber. That way I'm not putting her address in my phone. I was actually also thinking about it as a way to make sure she got home safely, but that might be overdoing it. She's a freshman in college, which seems very young to me but clearly it ... isn't.

Yes. Pay for Uber or drive them home.

I absolutely always offer it after 9 pm. And I always insists after 10 pm.

We live in DC and I wouldn’t ask a sitter to walk to a metro stop alone at night.

If it’s a college student, I’d treat it the same as if the sitter were a teen. It is not unusual for a college student to be without a car. Either offer pick-up/drop-off or pay for Uber.

Babysitters generally get a ride or can walk (andcc GC stecwalked home if it is late).

At that late, I think it’s polite but I wouldn’t have expected it as a college age sitter. My charges’ dad would drive me the half a mile to my dorm because his wife would worry (in a very safe area), it was a sweet gesture.

Do you generally take care of your sitter's transportation home? We have a new college-age sitter and I was torn between letting her take care of it herself and invading her privacy by plugging her address into my phone (although I assume she lives in dorms). Trip was at 11pm on Saturday night.
