Welcome to the neighborhood! We moved from DC a few years ago.
Wonders Daycare (two locations: one in Chevy Chase and one on Bethesda) is terrific, but I’m not sure if there are openings. Another one to check out that people seem to like is Children in the Shoe, two locations across from one another on East-West Highway. Both use the Creative Curriculum. Wonders is a nonprofit, and the Shoe for-profit, but I think they charge around the same.
Most of the preschools around her are part-day and even with aftercare did not cover a full workday, so those didn’t work for us. That said, there are a lot of nonbelievers who send their kids to the church-based programs such as at CCUMC.

We are moving from Capitol Hill to Chevy Chase MD in late March or April (just north of Chevy Chase Club) with a three year old in tow. We hadn't had a meaningful opportunity to research nearby preschools in the area before we went under contract (had focused more on elementary through high school in our research) and so are a bit anxious about finding a spot for our toddler soon after we move so that he isn't spending time isolated in a new home with a grandparent from out of town as back-up care.
Both of us work, so we need an option that gives us full-day care, either through a combination of preschool plus aftercare through the school, or a daycare. We are not religious, but I've noticed from an initial search that a lot of the preschools in the area seem to be religiously affiliated. Is that true? If there even are any schools that offer full-day care, are we largely out of luck given that most schools will have made their admissions decisions by the time we arrive? If so, any recommendations for good daycares in the area?
