It shouldn't be too bad, that's against traffic. I got from Rockville to Rt 50 at 6:00 and it takes half an hour.

I commute from Rockville to Columbia. In average rush hour traffic, the 270/ICC route is faster almost 100% of the time.

Randolph Road is always an option for part of it. I used to do the reverse commute and would get off 495 at New Hampshire and take Randolph Road to Rockville. It may be completely different the other way -- but worth looking at if there are traffic issues on 495.

Which part of Rockville are you coming from? My vote is for ICC. The traffic on ICC just doesn't compare to traffic on 270/beltway.

Dial up your Google map machine and see what it says on that day.
There could be an accident on either of those routes.

DH uses the beltway but starts a bit further east ... Georgia Ave. Usually takes 35 minutes leaving at 8:00.
