Googling and actually living somewhere are two totally separate things.

I lived in Brambleton which is right up the street. It’s really not a big deal at all. You become used to it. If you’ve lived in any major city, airplane noise is a thing.

The flights paths do change. I'm listening to one right now and it's just part of the background noise after 10 years, doesn't phase me.

I got new siding and windows this year and boy did that reduce the noise levels. So for new builds, I'm guessing lower quality materials means more noise.

But I knew this going into it. I have ZERO sympathy for the people who knowingly do this and then complain.

I recently moved to One Loudoun again after being here in 2020-2021, never have I ever noticed the plane noises during this time because I guess the route they took to land used to be different. Now I am seeing a bunch of articles based on One Loudoun/Ashburn residents complaining about the noises, and I can also assure you that YES, they did make some change this previous 1-2 years and its insanely loud. There are properties in my neighborhood that are valued at around 1.75m+ but you will hear roaring sounds of the engine and aircrafts flying over every 5-10 minutes. I thought I was crazy and that I didn't notice it back then, but I did my research and found this article from https://www.washingtonpost.com/transportation/2022/08/09/dulles-airport-noise-loudoun-county/ and it made me realize that they did indeed make some changes... It doesn't bother me that much but its just kind of annoying how frequent I hear it and how much we pay to live out here. I'd recommend living in Stone Ridge or South Riding (older areas) that I grew up in, that didn't hear so much of the loud plane noises. Hopefully I can move out of Virginia for GOOD!

NP here. I’ve looked at this one before as well. Keep in mind that there are a couple of different flight patterns that Dulles uses, so definitely make sure that you look at a couple of different days, to make sure that your location works under several different situations. Like another poster, I live in Ashburn Village and while I can sometimes hear planes, it normally isn’t noticeable, especially when inside. But there are some days where planes are louder than other days.

We live in Ashburn Village, so north of the airport instead of south where you’re looking, OP. Planes fly overhead all the time, but I don’t find it disturbing. Rarely do I actually hear one, especially if I’m inside.

You're going to want to look into specific flight paths. The noise will be very different if you are in a frequently used flight path versus not.

It’s not bad at all. Especially indoors.

Considering moving to this area, specifically South Riding and Stone Ridge, and am noticing that it's really close to Dulles airport.
