When you say in a parking lot, what are you talking about? Some major damage or some minor bumper scratches?

No, that’s not how it always works.

Usually they let the first one go, but a second claim in a year is not good. If the damage is under $2k I’d just pay it.

I had 3 small claims within 14 months-2 of which were my fault, me was a hit and run. (I’m not a crazy driver, I swear. Those are the only two at faults I’ve had in 25 years of driving!). After the 3rd incident (which was my 2nd at fault thing), my insurance went up by $40 for one 6 month policy window. The next renewal, it went back down to what it had been before. I’ll take that trade off since I saved thousands of dollars in repair costs in return for an extra $40.

Mine didn’t increase either.

It might not go up now, but if you have another claim it will for sure. If the damage wasn’t much, I wouldn’t put it through insurance.

I had this happen and my uninsured motorist coverage took care of the claim. My insurance did not go up.

Is the damage more than your deductible?

Yes, your premiums will increase. That's what happens when you file a claim.

Someone hit my car in the parking lot and didn't leave a note--there were no witnesses. If I file a claim with my insurance, will I get dinged and have my premiums go up?
