You are cutting off your nose to spite your face. Your daughter is too young to know if she would be interested. Your only reason for not wanting it is that she wants you to have it? That’s very poor, reactive reasoning.

Just put it in an archive box in the attic or wherever.

Don’t get rid of it if it has the family info!

I would wait until my daughter has children and then ask if she would like it.

Give it to another relative.

Ditto - I'm not religious, but took the family bible when religious sibs didn't want it, because it has historical info in it. Is also very fancy - gold leafed and nice reproductions of religious art that might be valuable.

I’d put it in a box in the attic, and reevaluate after she’s dead. Sorry to be crass, but if it does have family info, I wouldn’t let it go right now based on your feelings about her.

If yes, I would keep it and hand it down. If not, could you donate it to a local Catholic parish? They could use it or pass it on to someone who would like a Bible but can’t afford one.

Anyhoo I would keep it. It’s a piece of family history regardless of how you feel about religion. Are you so strapped for space this will matter?

Is it a religious artifact or a family heirloom? How many generations does it date back? Your teenage daughter is indifferent now, but if it’s a significant link to your ancestors, she may want it in the future.

Anyone else got rid of theirs?

I’m supposed to pass this on to teen daughter (who could not care less) from n-mom, and I’m not even Catholic anymore (Protestant now) so even more of a reason to redistribute it elsewhere.

Does anyone else have experience with this?
