Let it be. Every 3-4 years, my CC gets out of control-because I don’t pay it in full and eventually it catches up with me. I then tell my spouse about it, who then pays it in full. Sometimes it’s better to try and manage on your own. If you’ve paid it all down, let it die.

OP here. This is pretty much our situation as well. I don't want my spouse to be upset, but I owe them the truth. Thanks.

It was a small settlement for an old apartment I rented years ago...wasn't thousands of dollars, but enough to help out with a bill.

+1 with the above pp’s. If you have a good marriage you would ever hide something like that because your spouse may have a better solution. If you made a mistake, admit it and solve it as partners.

My family and I were in a tough financial situation a while ago which caused me to do some things that my spouse doesn't know about. Things include taking out two small loans to pay bills and receiving a refund check for a settlement and instead of sharing that it was received, used it to pay bills.
