Dh here. I did when I was a HS babysitter because we’d often be playing outside and in the woods and by the creek “catching frogs” and getting muddy. The parents never said give them a bath, but they were dirty. It seemed logical.

The issue never came up with our sitters.

+1. Though I did baths in High School as well as part of the bedtime routine. I had been babysitting some of those kids from age 11 or 12 on as a mother's helper, night time babysitter by 13/14.

No, but my kids don't bathe everyday anyway.

Nope. We either skip or do it before they arrive. It’s only one day, no big deal to skip.

Weekend baby sitters? Never. Frequent mother’s helper, yes.

My teen sitter has never given a bath. Not that it’s weird or something, she’s changed diapers. But even at 3, I think bathing my kid and getting in and out of the tub is dangerous and just adds risk that I don’t need.

Nope. And I'm not particularly paranoid, and our "sitters" have been pretty rare and include: her former preschool teacher, her aunt-to-be, my best friend since childhood, et al. (Kid is 7 now.)

In part because she has seemed to express a little discomfort at the idea herself, in part because she's been able to shower herself anyway since 3 or so, in part because... why not have her do it early that day? I mean, I know that's not always possible, but for us, it has been-- or it generally wouldn't kill her to take a bath one night.

No. They are now six and eight and shower on their own. Never had a sitter give them a bath. And these are teachers that had them in daycare. Just feels different.

My kids have always been with the same nanny from they had diapers to when they needed help in the bathroom etc. She also gives them baths occasionally (maybe once a week or once every two weeks)...

That jumped out at me too. I would not ask a sitter to bathe a child

We also use neighborhood teens and just forgo bath. Skipping one day is no big deal and there is no reason to saddle them with that task. They will help them change into pjs though.

Yes but my daily sitter gives my girls baths after school and that’s also normal.

We are by no means super conservative and use babysitters all the time for our kids. Usually they are neighborhood teens and sometimes workers from our daycare. But we have never had them give our kids baths (3 and 5 year old girls). It never crossed my mind. I usually get the kids ready for bed before we leave (pjs on, bedrooms ready) and then they can play or watch movies until bedtime with the babysitter. On occasion if we leave early (like 5pm) babysitter will put pjs on the kids but never a bath. We usually just forgo a bath that day. Or I give them a bath before we leave. Is this normal?
