Only half of the students taking an AP exam got a 3 or higher? Is that supposed to be impressive?

Did you see the national average of 22 percent ? Or that MCPS leads the nation ?

I think it’s crazy. My daughter just registered for 9th and didn’t take any AP’s. I’m fine with that.

DD took 3 which is very low for her W school but she got into UMD which was her first choice so it all worked out.

I think it depends on if you’re aiming for the ivies or similar.

In the normal range I would say especially if you HS allows 9th graders to take them. Colleges can differentiate which ones kids took. Physics C, Calc BC high level APs, Human Gro, Environmental..lower level. It is not a race to get to a high number.

DD just registered for her senior year classes and will have taken 11 APs. This seems like a lot to me but she insists she’s in the middle of the pack (and her counselor agrees as far as college bound kids go). How many did your kid take?
