He sounds delerious, could be from a new infection. it’s an emergency so er is the place to go. Urgent care will just be a waste of time.

He definitely cannot travel like this. Is his visa expiring?

You mentioned he is supposed to return home soon. Will you be flying back with him?

OP here: thank you everyone. We just came back from the ER, all he tests are good (no infection, blood work, urine analysis, CAT scan). While there, he kept talking to imaginary people, laughing, etc, but it was not in English, so the nurses could not understand. My sister back home tells me it was the same when he had viral pneumonia last year, but he is not sick now as per the tests. I wish I knew what to do.

Go to the ER. In the hospital ask to speak with a social worker. This happened with my dad and the social worker did a lot to help point us in the right directions to get services set up.

Avoid the ER if you can go to urgent care instead. ER is an incredibly stressful enviornment and not suited to this type of situation.

Check physical cases first. Yes, get him checked for UTI. What you describe is all the symptoms.

Also, is he on any medication? Can you check to see if he has taken it correctly, maybe missed a dose or took too much by accident.

Sorry, it is very stressful situation.

Definitely take him to urgent care or an ER. Rule out physical first. My mom started experiencing dementia as a result of liver failure.

Thank you. I was scared to do so because I don’t want him flu. Right now I saw him walking to the bathroom completely undressed. This would not have happened yesterday - he is extremely prudish and put together.

My elderly father who is stating with us for six months has been exhibiting signs of dementia for last two weeks. He is supposed to travel back to our country of birth soon and was very anxious about it after watching all the news about corona virus on TV. Tonight he became agitated, disoriented, started hallucinating, could not undress himself. He needs emergency psychiatric care, but I have no idea about who to call and where to find the specialist. Please help (we are not in DC)
