I said God planted a seed in my belly, and a baby grows, similar to how a tree grows from other seeds. My 3 yo does not need to know specifics.

There is a seed deep inside the man’s body and an egg deep inside the woman’s body. When they join and stick in the uterus (a special place where the baby grows) then they can become a baby.

How does the seed get to the egg?

Part of the man called a penis was designed by nature to fit together with a part of the woman called a vagina. The seed comes out of the penis when it is in the vagina and swims to the egg.

Yep.

I liked PP's wording- dad planted the seed in mom's belly.

You can keep to the
Daddy has a sperm that connects with an egg in my body. (Or puts in my uterus where the egg is) The sperm all want to join with the egg. One of those sperm wins and that becomes our baby. The baby will grow and grow for 9 months and then be born, just like you were.

And hope he doesn't ask how Daddy puts the sperm in your body.

I told my son about my eggs and DH's sperm, and how they join together to form a baby. Months later, he asked how they come together, and DH told him that sleep (or lay? I forget) really closely together, and that's when it happens.

You have to research how the baby got in your tummy? You don't know? If you don't know, you shouldn't be producing children and raising them - you're not qualified.

Just say there's an egg in the woman that meets the sperm a man produces, and when they come together, they make a fetus which grows into a baby.

There’s a really cute book called the baby tree that we used for our kids to explain a new baby. It has a pretty simple explanation that we still use for our 4 and 7 year olds.

I told my kids about the eggs inside of me.

You say “Daddy planted a seed and now it’s growing into a baby!”

We recently told my 5 year old that we're expecting another baby and the questions have begun. Specifically, how did the baby get in your tummy?
