Only 2 were admit post WL. There were still several that didn't get in.

Op, like others have said you will likely get a prk spot even if it is after the school year starts. The biggest question is will you have an address and enroll for your IB K next school year before the lottery closes?? Are you planning to play the lottery for K or just go with your IB? The lottery closes March 2nd so that doesn't give you much time to pick a location in time for 1st round lottery picks. But you could list them all in the 1st of 2nd round and once your K is enrolled that will pull up rpk3 on the list. You have to enroll by May for the lottery spots or as they come up. Also, if you want after care best to enroll asap.

When will you have an address? If it is next month it is one thing. If it is this summer, you might not get a spot.

This is wrong. OP has a kid entering K next year. There will be a by-right in boundary spot for that child. OP also has a kid who will be in PK3 the following year. There will almost definitely be a sibling spot for the PK3 kid in 2021-22.

OP here. This is correct.

This is true. If you aren't in boundary by the time the lottery concludes, then the best you can do is get on the waitlist after the lottery. Even with a sibling preference, you may not get in. We were on the PK-3 waitlist inbounds at Peabody two years ago and it didn't move at all. Somebody else posted on another thread recently that they were #1 on the Peabody PK-3 waitlist and didn't get a spot.

Remember that for Watkins, being in-boundary does not necessarily mean you are very close to the school physically.

Only Brent has ever had a year (once) where all siblings were not admitted and they were post-WL movement.

Thanks everyone. This is what I was hoping, and good to know about Watkins.

I would say it's almost a sure thing, but nothing guaranteed. Still if you look at the admissions wait list data I'd be surprised if any in bound siblings didn't make it in.

In all the elementaries, your children will almost certainly get in to the in-boundary school. K and above is guaranteed, and in PK3, there are more seats than inbounds with siblings. Looks like Brent had the largest share, where 75 percent of PK3 students were inbound with siblings. Data here: http://enrolldcps.dc.gov/node/61 I suppose there's a tiny possibility that there will not be enough PK 3 seats in the future, but I wouldn't worry.

Close to a guarantee but never 100%. Depends on the school.

Proximity means you live very close to the school but outside the boundary and your in-boundary school is not as close.

You know Watkins ECE is at Peabody, right?

There is no proximity if you already live in-boundary. Sibling preference should give you a good chance though.

We're moving to the district, likely Capitol Hill/H Street. We have one kid going into K this coming year, and another who will be 3 year old the year after that. Would the combination of proximity and siblinghood give us good chances for PK3 for whatever our in-boundary school will be (Maury, Watkins, LT, or Brent)?
