I'm curious why you say this. Back in the '90s when I was applying to colleges, I read about both, decided that I was only interested in one of these two schools, and ended up going there. They seemed to have substantial differences then and they still seem different to me. Specifically how do you see them as similar?

They just shut down Greek life in the last couple years. Always seemed weird to me that they still had it.

I'm a late 2000's grad. It is a beautiful campus. That's always been the case and probably always will be. I always appreciated the Quaker values. It's not officially a Quaker school anymore, but I think the values are still there. Simplicity, everyone eats in the same dining hall, you can't tell who has money and who doesn't (even though some people have A LOT of money.), we all went to the same parties. It was easy to make friends there, and I still have friends I talk to all the time AND I met my husband there.

I do hear that a lot has changed recently, though, especially because of sexual assault and party culture. I think a lot of the open parties we all went to have been shut down due to drinking concerns. I hear that now, instead of the open free parties we used to go to, now a lot of the parties are run by sports teams and are more exclusive. Also, it was a social justice warrior-y place when I was there, and I'm sure it's 10 times worse now (trigger warnings, safe spaces, etc.).

For intellectual, serious, politically aware students. Gorgeous campus close to Philly. Massive feeder to top PhD programs. Impossible to get into.

You are a real jerk. You also posted this on the Colby thread. Why not just reply and let those who have a real view abt the school reply

The ones I’ve known from Swarthmore are arrogant tools. I wish it wasn’t the case because it sounds like an amazing place.

Your kid will likely be rejected. That would be a blessing. Avoid the misery.
