All these groups have people that are so weird, though. Are weird people more inclusive because they don't care what people think of them?

Can I ask how you found out about this group? Was it through friends or on something like meetup? I’d love something like this but haven’t heard of any groups like that

Boardgaming groups - very inclusive - we take all kinds as long as you like to game. Nicest? Weeeeelllll, that depends on your definition. Generally very nice, but we can be cutthroat competitive on the table. Interesting? In my estimation, everyone can be interesting if you are a curious person.

Barbershoppers and model train people.

Cyclists.

Triathletes.
Why excel at one thing when you can be mediocre at three?

Agree with this. This describes my sister and her family perfectly and they seem to have a very tight-knit, fun, super-smart friend group of lovable weirdos.

Singing. If you like to sing there are all levels of singing groups in this area, and they tend to be very welcoming.

Gaming groups also - if you enjoy gaming.

Running clubs if you're a runner.

A good place to get info on knitters and meet knitters is Fibre Space in Old Town.

My Mother in Law got into quilting after her husband died and she really enjoys it and the people she's met.

Musicians are wacky ... some are SUPER cool and chill, while others get really egotistical.

But if you find the super cool ones, it can be really awesome to vibe with them and make music.

Yes! Knitting groups are fantastic! You should definitely learn to knit. It's so soothing, and you meet really great people.

I was talking to a friend who is into knitting and according to her, knitters are really nice, welcoming and it's a great way of making friends. I have only a passing interest in knitting, but if I ever had the time, I might take up knitting just for the community, if that's true. (I just have to wait for my kids to get older and life to slow down a bit).

What other small communities have you gotten to know and thought, "wow, people into _____ are just the most interesting, nicest people around!" Or what communities are not?
