If your car is old enough not to have Bluetooth, it almost certainly had an AUX port (a little round hole that matches the headphone port on your phone). The audio system should have a "source" or "mode" setting that allows you to choose AUX as the input source and bingo.

I had a new stereo with CarPlay, along with a backup camera, installed in my 2007 Camry -- cost was around $400 including install. That may be an option for you if you plan to keep the car a few more years.

my DD has one on her 2004 civic. it blue tooths to your phone, and then you tune the radio station to something unused in the 80's on he fm dial. it works. sound is off, but if you not an audiophile it'll be fine. i think she got here at best buy for 20-30 bucks. it plugs into the ciggy lighter plug.

This. Amazon sells them. I bought one for about $20. It works really, really well. Not as good as built in Bluetooth, but it’s a great alternative if you have an older car. Besides answering phone calls I can also stream music from my phone to the radio.

We need to know what your sound system does have first. Do you have and aux ports or USB ports in your car?

I'd go to best buy and ask for help.

Does your car have a USB port? I play my phone that way--bonus, it doesn't run down the battery.

I want to be able to play my phone over my car speakers, but do not have bluetooth in my car. I see these things that look like they plug into the phone charger - do they actually play through the speakers? How does this work?
