this thread is so old, but for anyone looking at this in 2025, Camp Arcadia is phenomenal for girls. I went there as a teen and was a counselor for many years and this was my daughter's 4th summer. Phenomenal trips program and really well-developed activity program. Kind, caring counselors and great, supportive community. It's been around for over 100 years in the same family - they are doing something right!

I’m very curious about Kippewa. What are the girls like? Are the girls down to earth? And would a non-Jewish girl fit in?

If you're open to Vermont, check out Songadeewin, near Middlebury College.

A few posters on another thread recommended Becket (boys) and Chimney Corners (girls) in the Berkshires.

Amazing brother sister camp, still my favorite place on earth. I went there from about 7 until becoming a counselor. Sounds like what you are looking for- not too rustic (nice cabins with bathrooms) but not fancy either.

Thanks ! Definitely doesn’t have to be Maine ! I’ll look into Forest Lakes !

Any recommendations for sleepaway camps in northeast for an 11yo girl ? Looking for nature/hiking/climbing focus but not super rustic. Any experience with Arcadia, Wyonegonic, or Chewonki ?
