Posts like yours make no sense when you can afford three in private and a very comfortable lifestyle.

Dp here. 700k after taxes isn’t as much as you think.

We have a higher HHI and we send our 3 kids to public.

While money can sort of buy time (i.e. outsource cleaning, yard work, etc.), we felt more like we didn't have enough time for more kids. Basically that the ones we have would lose too much of our time if we had to spend time with another child. I think part of that is also mental - the way we are wired and how much we can handle. If we made twice what we make now I still don't think we'd have more kids.

Yes. We make a lot (700K) and can afford private, super nice vacations, nice cars, huge house, etc. with 2. Obviously we could afford 3 but it's nice knowing it will never feel like a stretch to do those things since we are stopping at 2.

Not the only reason, but a major reason we stopped at one and we don’t regret it.

Same hhi and we also stopped at 2. We like to travel and take nice vacations. Adding another kid increases the cost for everything you do and most things are built around a family of 4. i also don't want to pay for college for 3 kids.

Also decided not to have a 3rd because we didn't want to start all over again or have to wait even longer to start our "post-kids" life.

+1 We are about $250k and two kids as well.

Money is a little bit the reason (things are a bit stretched right now, we'd like to pay for college, live comfortably), but its more about how we don't have enough money to "buy" more time through outsourcing, etc. We don't feel like we have enough time with our kids now, so adding a third would mean all get even more shortchanged. If we had millions and therefore could outsource/work part-time or not at all, then we would probably have more kids, but it's not so much about the money as the time that would create.

Yes. When DH and I sat down to figure out if we wanted a 2nd kid (we were both on the fence) we basically decided the life we could give DS as an only was better than if we had 2 kids. And we've never regretted our decision. DS has had a lot of opportunities that wouldn't have been possible if we had another child.

It's definitely a factor but not the sole reason. We have 2 and hhi is just about $250k fwiw. We're planning on public school.

Money is a reason we are stopping at one. With one kid we can afford private school, vacations, nice summer camps, etc. The two of us can also pursue our careers.

Two kids would pretty much lock us into public school and for us that's not ok. We need to have flexibility.

I’m just curious how common this is. Not the only ready but we stopped at 2 because we felt any more would be a lifestyle change and money would be an added stress.
