Never. Our 15yo is still going strong.

My boys are 9 and 11. The toys get smaller as the kids age. Our playroom is used for legos, books, video games, board games and for D&D gaming.

I think this depends where your playroom is in the house. Our playroom is a room right off the kitchen and has a door opening up to living room. Can’t imagine a bunch of teenagers wanting to hangout right next door while I’m making dinner.

They’ll probably move down to the basement living space.

Unless you need to use the playroom for something else, I would imagine never.

DD is only 3, so her playroom is still filled with little kid toys, but I imagine as she gets older, she can use it for whatever she wants. Probably will end up being a hangout area for her and her friends. We'll also probably put a desk in there, since her bedroom is fairly small.

My kid is 11 and she would still use a playroom if we had one. Right now the entire house is her playroom. For older kids, you could have a desk for homework and some couches and chairs and a TV for gaming or just hanging out.

I think this can vary a lot. Some kids enjoy Lego well past 10 or 11, for example.
My oldest is 10 but still plays with some toys with his 6 yo sibling. Our playroom is still full of toys, art supplies, etc.

We got rid of the toys, train table, etc and converted their playroom into a teen lounge area with bean bag chairs, computer desk, TV and video console.

My kids are 8 and 10 and most of the toys are gone. We have a bookshelf with games, a basketball hoop, and a big container of balls and nerf stuff. The playroom still gets used for physical made up games but those require minimal toys.

We still also have legos, magnatiles, and blocks but those rarely get used and probably wouldn’t be missed.

So when do the toys go away?

Never. My playroom just evolved as I got older. I plan to do the same for my kids.

Our playroom was the basement. It’s still the teen hang out room, it’s just that toddler toys were replaced with darts and foosball and video games. I imagine it will be that way for a long time.

Never. The only thing that changes are the types of toys...

mine are still pretty young, but just wondering at what age those of you with older kids packed up and re-purposed the playroom/ messy toy area?
