This. Clover and wild onions are food sources for insects. I don't bother trying to maintain a perfectly plush yard like my grandpa used to spend hours on. It's not natural or good for the environment.

Green and mowed are plenty.

NP -- I don't think so, if they do a good job. My DH takes care of our lawn and it looks great, but it is very time consuming. He does it because he enjoys being outside. People constantly ask us who keeps our yard, and I joke that he should go into the business, but he says there's no way anyone would want to pay him what his time would really be worth. The cheaper services just mow, usually spreading weeds and diseases from other people's yards to yours in the process, because they don't even clean their equipment properly. If they're truly doing it properly, $110 sounds about right.


That's monthly based on 12 months right? Not just summer months. 110x12= ~1320 per year every year? that seems a lot for lawn.


I pay about $4,000/year, and that’s just for treatment, and annual aeration and overseeing. Cutting is another couple thousand a year. Big yard though.

Not really. I pay three times that. Of course, you have no idea how big my yard is (or the PP’s either).

We bought our first home two years ago and in that time, though it was watered and mowed, the lawn became overrun with weeds (looks like crabgrass, clover, and wild onion weeds). We have a mowing service but they are very unhelpful (non responsive) and clearly I don't know what I am doing.

Who should I call to come consult on whether and how this is fixable or if I need to lay new sod? Do I need to call a landscaper? Someone else? Any advice on where to look / how to find one?

Thank you in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
