I just read the accompanying article. She actually has two au pairs. Here are the salary details:

“How much does this job pay?
It’s $35 to $40 an hour. Then there’d be time and a half for any overtime. And if the person wanted, they could live in our pool cottage, and the rental value for that is about $3,000 a month. They’d get a car that they could use exclusively for themselves; that’s valued at about $800 a month. There’d be paid days off, paid holidays, vacation pay, health benefits and the person would get to travel with us. We do some pretty cool vacations. We go to Europe a lot. We always stay in really nice places and have a lot of fun. And we travel to Hawaii, Central America. And when that person would be traveling, that person would only be working eight to nine hours a day.”

Right. The title makes it sound like the nanny. It’s more a house manager who will sometimes also watch the kids. Seems more about being with the kids when they aren’t home (sports, athletic things) and then managing the household

She’s probably an intense woman but at the end of the day she wants a stay at home parent who plans vacations, activities and cooks... all while kids are in school most of the day and there’s an au pair to help out. Good for her for being thorough

OP here, another gem:

“o Family eats organic and is allergic to cow and goat dairy, chicken eggs, green beans and watermelon. Can eat duck eggs. Must be able to produce simple, delicious meals with consistency and accuracy meeting our allergy requirements”

I also like the juxtaposition of these two bulleted items:

“o Has room in their heart to love the kids and the mom; has a high capacity to be loved deeply by them
o Has appropriate boundaries in relationships and interactions and will teach the children the same including appropriate privacy and safety.”

I’m sorry, that posting is not normal. That is why it went viral.

I was a nanny like this although I didn’t go on much at all of the family’s travel. Made great money and loved the family and my job.

Who knows. For free rent plus $40/ hr, it might not be too bad. Kids are ten and in school all day. Days are to be spent planning vacations!

I might take her up on her offer!
A SAHP definitely. Maybe, there is a recently divorced empty nester looking for a job?

I’m literally speechless. A perfect candidate to this posting should be a CEO in his/her own right.

Has this been posted yet? I mean, wow. I also work FT in a demanding job (albeit not CEO and I'm not a single mom) and I get the amount of organizing that goes into childcare and activities, but what makes this person think they can find a nanny who is "at least an intermediate skier," a cook, does "river swimming," athletic, high on executive functioning, and all of these other things?

And here's the Slate interview with the anonymous CEO mom who posted it.
