Agreed. You have a very cheap rate and most home daycares don't go down based on age for all the reasons others explained.

You may want to seek out potential new daycares before bringing this up.

Our home daycare charges the same for all kids regardless of age. $250 is very cheap. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

We dont see this on contract but if I remember correctly the rates go down after 18 months or 2 years old? I just wanted get some info before i ask the provider.
We live in Germantown and daycare is in same neighborhood. We paid $250 weekly since she started at 5months. Now she is 18 months is it time for reduced rate?
TIA

I would also like to point out that your child does not get less care am I’m sure not a reduction in hours and she probably gets meals served too. In fact, you are probably due for a rate increase. Are you sure you want to bring it up??

If you ask for a new contract, you may find that your rate will increase. Often providers increase there rate each year. She may also bump you out for a new infant in order to avoid a decrease in income should you ask to pay less.

It varies. Each daycare is a separate business with varying policies and rates. $250 is super cheap.

I have used two in home providers over the years. Neither have a discounted rate for the older kids.

And your rate is already really cheap. I pay $270/week in Silver Spring and even that was hard to find.

Childcare other than daycare or preschool.

Go to the daycare forum for better answers.

If it’s a home daycare it’s up to the provider. Daycare centers do this because their child to adult ratio goes down so they can have more kids in one room as they get older. A home daycare doesn’t work the same way. If you like your provider I would not mention it. I have a friend in Rockvilke who does in home daycare and she charges the same as your provider so you’re not overpaying if you have quality care.
