I guess I mainly mean aversion to the feeling of being tipsy and feeling like crap

Happened to me late 40s. Turned out I did have a blood disease. Not leukemia though.

This happens to me around 30. Now I’m 36 and it’s never gone away. And no, I didn’t have leukemia.

Funny - I’m just about to turn 40 and definitely have been more willing to skip the drinks recently. I’m not a super heavy drinker, but really enjoyed a couple drinks on a weekend night (and occasionally more). I’ve had several weekendS recently where I’ve thought “nah, don’t really feel like a drink” which has been WEIRD. Trying to embrace it as I’m sure it’s better for me.

Yep. I remember when there was talk about how George Bush gave up drinking when he turned 40, as if it were some sign of good character that he did that. Once i hit 40 myself, I realized he did it because drinking hurts after 40!!! There’s no honor in getting sober after 40. It just means you recognized the pain and realized that drinking would stop it. So welcome to your 40s, op.

I used to love to booze it up with friends or alone with a book. A warm glass of red, a crisp few glasses of white to get a buzz on while with friends on the deck.

I turned 40 and it was like my body said CUT THAT CRAP OUT. Even the smell of alcohol makes me want to retch. The thought of drinking turns my stomach.

I didn't have a horrible hangover or anything. It's as though I'm pregnant (I'm not).

I recently had a physical, and my bloodwork is totally normal and my liver is working quite well.

What accounts for this aversion?!?!?
