Ugh. Sore subject. With my first we moved her out around 4 or 5 months, easy peasy. I was so relieved.

My second is 9 months old and still in our room. Last night she woke me up 3-4 times just whining/moaning but not actually needing to wake up. I'm so sick of it, but her room is past my oldest's room in the house and my oldest is a very light/finnicky sleeper and I'm really worried it will wake up my oldest.

I know I should just pull the bandaid off but I have a lot of anxiety around my kids' sleeping habits, neither are good sleepers and I get really worked up about making changes to any routine.

6 months for both. Sleep got immediately better once that happened.

Explain it to me like I'm an idiot, why is having a kid in the room with you safer? 1. It's proven to be less safe to have a kid in your bed with you. 2. Are you seriously going to wake up if you hear that your kid isn't breathing? Is SIDS or accidental suffocation preventable if a parent is in the room with you? Do you all just perch on the side of the pack and play and watch them sleep all night?

Our kids were always very nearby, but never next to or in the bed with us. Except for the first month of my first child's life, when I was too anxious to be more than a foot away from her. A wise, experienced mother finally made me get into my own bed and get some sleep.

A little over a year. In retrospect, we should have moved him sooner. It was really a lot better for our sanity to have the room to ourselves at night.

Day 1 both kids... #1 was such a loud sleeper and the rooms were so close we turned off the monitor after a few weeks. We were constantly up when he was not.

First child, day 1. We were in a tiny condo at the time, and her room was just steps away from my side of the bed, anyway.
Pregnant again, also planning on day 1, although we are in a larger house now.

2 kids. Day 1. My house wasn't tiny, but rooms were close by.

First one 3 months, second 2 months. The chance if Sids in a safe sleeping environment is vanishingly small.

Age 4. Kid slept with us from day 1. Still fall asleep with her every night. Thank goodness the crib converted to a full size bed. Happy, healthy, independent child.

With DS he slept in a pack n play in our room until 10 months. It was miserable, nobody slept. I want to move DD, who is 3 months, to her own room earlier, but want to balance safety and our need for better sleep.

When did you all move your DCs?
