Waited to start trying again once DD was 1. Took 5 rounds of IVF. Kids are just shy of three years apart.

I had my first IVF baby in 2018. When he was 10 months old, I did my first FET which failed. I did a second FET last week and just got my BFP. My doc was fine with it at 9 months on, and I didn't want to wait since I was older (40). Good luck! I had a vaginal delivery, so that is partially why my RE let me do it at 9 months - she said she waits until 12 months after for patients who have had c-sections.

I did a second frozen embryo transfer 12 months after my first child was born by C-section. Neither Shady Grove nor my OBGYN expressed any concerns about the timing. Best of luck!

I don't want to give anyone false hope, but maybe try yourself for a couple months before rushing back to IVF. I was certain I would need IVF for our second (we had tried for more than 2 years ourselves for our first, then a few IUI cycles, then IVF). We nevertheless started trying right after I was done nursing, one year after the first was born. I got pregnant that first month. We always marvel at how much money and emotional turmoil we were able to save with our second!

I did a transfer with Shady Grove 13 months after having our first (big! Over 9 lbs) vaginal delivery (I breastfed 12 months- they wouldn’t do a transfer until it had been a month since I had breastfed). Unfortunately, that one ended in miscarriage (we haven’t done any testing of our embryos) but appeared unrelated to my previous pregnancy/birth.

I had a C section with my first and I started an IVF cycle about 14-15 months after delivery. (No frozen embryos.) I weaned around 10 months and did baseline bloodwork around 13 months. I think I had a hysteroscopy as well (but no HSG).

Our kids were born 26 months apart, both IVF.

Our RE was okay with our plan for another FET 10 months after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. We thought we might need to do another full round of IVF with egg retrieval (we were on our final embryo for this transfer) so didn’t want to wait too long as I’m 40. Breastfeeding was also a factor, they wanted at lest a couple months to have passed from weaning to the FET.

My diagnosis was PCOS, and we had leftover embryos for frozen transfer. I had a vaginal delivery. My RE was ok with me coming back and starting as early as 6 months; his only stipulation was that I should no longer be breastfeeding.
In the end, we waited nearly 2 years, because the sleep deprivation and PPA was intense.
I was told that, if I'd have had a c-section, their recommendation would have been to wait for a year and have a repeat HSG before doing another transfer.

My re recommended 6 months. I was young but had dor.

If you had a baby via IVF, how long did you wait to have a second baby? I know the research says waiting 18 months is recommended. Did anyone do it at the 12 month mark? Did you receive pushback from your RE? Also did you deliver via vaginal birth or C-section? Any info specific to Shady Grove would be helpful too.
