I don't know anything, but I understand from my child currently at School Without Walls High School that a good number of students from Two Rivers MS attend SWW. That is a solid indicator of academic rigor for kids that are up to it to me.

Current elementary family, planning to stay through middle. Go to an open house - they will surely talk about the facility at Young, as it opens this fall, and advanced math opportunities. With expansion, the middle school won't be quite so small (growing to 100 kids per grade instead of currently 50).

I think TR middle is going to lose interest from some families being further east with commute and also in a neighborhood with higher poverty and crime.

I can’t comment on the middle school, because we were not interested in a small middle school experience for DC and why we also did not consider ITS among other reasons.

Because the main location is so much better

The TR 4th campus is a big draw for Capitol Hill and NOMA families, and has been since it opened.

MS students can ride the bus to school solo. It makes perfect sense for them to have their own campus away from the ECE and elementary students. And it makes sense to keep 4th closer to most parents commuting paths.

The X2 bus?

19 kids took the PARCC test for Algebra in 8th grade last year, which is considered more rigorous than "8th grade math" (the alternative PARCC). More than 1/3 of 7th and 8th graders got 4s or 5s on PARCC math. More than half of 7th and 8th graders got 4s and 5s on PARCC ELA.

For me, this is good evidence that there are high-performing kids in the cohort and that they are learning content.

NP. That's useful. People I know have been happy with 2R MS on a kid-by-kid basis. If the small setting and expeditionary work for your kid, 2R can be a great fit. I know numerous families where one child moved on from 2R for MS but another stayed and thrived.
