Not a Prep homer. But I'll recognize that Prep has the academic bona fides that STA and to a certain extent EHS has. And the sports bona fides, especially in lax, that Landon and Bullis have.

For lacrosse, of course. There are more for other sports.

There are actually at least 8 seniors at Prep who are committed to play in college.

STA has a hard rode ahead of them. They just can't compete against the top IAC programs, unless a team has a really bad day. Every year there are a handful of decent players at STA and maybe one or two college commits, but that's nothing compared to their IAC competition. Prep, for example, has at least six seniors and six juniors currently committed to play in college. That's 12 members of the varsity squad already committed to playing lax in college. STA just can't compete against that level of competition.

I think STA and EHS have a chance to compete for the 3 slot along side Bullis and GP as Landon is dying a slow death. The coaching is a disaster and they can't even hold onto the athletes they do convince to attend.

Landon had their worst record in recent memory last season, two one-goal losses to eventual IAC and Geico National Champion, Bullis, is nothing to hang your head about. They came in 3rd place in the IAC, I guess for their high standards, that is a poor season for the Bears.

Programs go through highs and lows, it's only been one year since Coach Bordley stepped down. Way too early to gauge what direction their program is heading.

What a lovely post to read. I wish more parents shared opinions this thoughtfully.

The boys love the no-longer new HC. The assistant who is affiliated with NL is also well-liked, and is deftly using the NL connection to build up both STA and NL. The boys love the sport and the opportunity to play against some of the best competition in the nation. Yes, losing more than winning is not easy. But as they say, that builds character. My son has graduated. He had many great experiences at the school. But bar none, memories of his lacrosse seasons and the bonds he forged with his teammates and coaches are some of his best HS memories.

By that measure the future of the program is good.
