What I meant is that DC United is a Men's MLS club. The women have their own pro soccer league and their academy teams should come out of their professional league. I really don't know what you think will be any different if DCU was to run the women's club vs Spirit.
The "women's side" needs to pair up with the men's side, or it will never be successful. People just don't put the same money or interest into women's sports, even when the women's side has produced more.
So if the NWSL is to ever be successful, it can't stand alone. Look at Portland Thorns' success versus the now gone Boston Breakers? Or what a failure Spirit has been?
